Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is a holistic approach to the therapeutic process that integrates elements of attachment theory, development, and somatic/body-based work to foster long-term transformational change.

The AEDP model takes into consideration the neuroplasticity of the brain. Meaning change from overwhelming emotional or mental distress is possible on a neuronal level.

By slowing down and tuning in, we are able to access these memory networks. Then, there is an opportunity to process emotions related to memories or events in a corrective and healing way. With this memory network unlocked, meaning we are actively touching into the part of the brain that holds information about these experiences, we can update it with new information and new learnings.

We are ultimately bringing this part of the brain that is stuck in the past into the present. Which allows for us to offer compassion and care to the version of you that originally had that experience and to give that part permission to rest. It is safe. It is not alone. Even if only in that moment in the therapy room, that can be deeply transformational in the brain and body.
